In recent years there has been some controversy over this sort of body art due to the area it is applied and its relation to medical procedures that require an injection in this area such as an epidural for pain relief during child birth. The theory goes that residual ink could be taken into the spine by the needle if it punctures through the tattoo. As far as we are aware there have been no documented instances and it is dismissed by most authorities in this area.
